Living on the Road* R

I have been on the road for four months. I left behind  my friends, my school, and my cat Pushek in Asheville North Carolina. For those of you who have never been to Asheville, it is a very nice city in the Appalachian mountains in USA.

This is our cat Pushek on the photo. I like to pick her up and carry her around and cuddle her. She is chubby but very cute and lets me play without running away. She even lets me put her in a doll stroller! I miss her so much!

It feels amazing to be on the road because I learn new things while having so much fun! The excitement in every day makes me not miss my house each day we  have amazing new adventures that are so fun every day like going to temples all day with a tuk-tuk in Cambodia (a tuk-tuk is seats attached to a motorbike.)

There are a lot of differences between living at home and living on the road. There is no kitchens in  hotel and guest house rooms so that makes us go out and try the new food. I have tried so many different foods, and my favorite dish was in Japan. It is called vegetable tempura. The photo below is Japanese fast food!

I try new street food every day. Yesterday we tried a small round cake made out of rice and spring onions. It was very good! The weirdest thing I ate was tarantula in Siem Reap. I was curious to try the tarantula. I also tried grasshopper and silk worm in Vietnam. The grass hopper tasted the same as the silk worm. If you put a lot of hot sauce it tasted good, but I did not like the spiciness. I did not try the snake (Yuk!) but I tried the frog legs. They tasted like chicken.

We change hotels every few days. Some of the hotels are bad and some of them are good. The worst guest house was in Rach Gia, Vietnam. It was a room with no windows and the TV did not work but we stayed only one night. And the best hotel was in Siem Reap. It has a swimming pool!! I can’t count how many hotels we have been to. I like my home because I have more space but what I do like about hotels is that I don’t have to fix my bed every day.

Where you live you probably have a big house but while traveling we have only one room in a hotel or a hut, see the photo from Thailand.KhaoSok-Thailand (1000x1500)

I sleep with Boryan in one bed everywhere we go. I like sleeping in one bed but sometimes he pushes me off of it while sleeping. We usually share a small bed but the good thing is I have gotten closer to my brother. I don’t now how we are going to sleep in separate beds when come back home from the trip?!

I have so little things in my backpack compared to the things I have at home. I wear the same T-shirt every day but my mom washes it and the warm weather drys it. My backpack has almost broken because sometimes I put so many things in my it that it gets very heavy. I like having a backpack but I hand it to my mom often:( because it’s heavy.

I miss my friends a lot but I make new friends on the road. One time I met a girl in Siem Reap who was from U.S.A. Her name is Sidney she is also traveling but with suitcases! She had a lot of toys with her on the road. I have a stuffed turtle I bought in Vietnam, eraser toys from Japan and some cloth to make clothes for the turtle Ponichka.

I like being with my family 24/7! At home I only saw my parents in the morning and at night except for weekends.

On the road my parents home school me. I do math in the computer, writing in my notebook, programming and Polish. I also learn things as I travel. Yesterday I learnt about Cambodia’s history and the Khmer Rouge, who tortured the people of Cambodia for no reason at all. The prison we visited in Phenom Penh was a very sad place.

Getting ready for school every day was stressful for me. On the road I get to sleep in a lot but some times I have to wake up early to catch a flight or a bus. I still think that getting ready for school is more stressful than traveling.

All in all I like traveling a lot. I still like waking up to explore the world!!
