From what we have seen so far Japanese cities are not pretty. In fact they are quite unattractive. Contemporary construction is cheap and doesn’t take the passage of time well. Wires crisscross the sky and trees are rare and far between.
Looking at the amazing shrines and temples though it is not a stretch of the imagination to know that the past was different.
Kawagoe has a street with preserved houses that still has the spirit of the old days.
